Cupping
Traditional Chinese Medicine philosophy: “where there is stagnation, there is pain”. Remove the stagnation and you remove the pain. Cupping stimulates the meridians, treating conditions more directly and enabling the release of blood and qi stagnation.
Traditional fire cupping creates a slight vacuum within the cup.
When placed on the skin, this negative pressure gently increases circulation to the area alleviating local congestion.
In modern terminology, cupping is used to release tension and remove blockages.
Our skin is the body’s largest organ and is rich in circulation. Cupping supports our body to clear toxins quickly and efficiently. It restores the body’s natural flow of blood and lymphatic fluid and promotes healing and immune processes.
Not to mention - it feels incredible.
Cupping is used to treat
Musculoskeletal issues, such as back and neck pain, shoulder tension, recurrent injuries, and general muscle tightness
Excess fluids and toxins by activating the lymphatic system and promoting drainage.
Acute conditions such as coughs, colds, and headaches
Digestive issues including bloating, reflux and constipation symptoms.
Post Treatment
Cupping can leave temporary markings on the skin. This is often proportional to the amount of stagnation and subsequent release in that area.
These marks typically fade within a few days to a week.
After Cupping Therapy you should drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. This will help your lymphatic system flush out toxins in the days after your treatment. Keep the areas that were treated covered and warm. If you feel fatigued during the day after your cupping session, be sure to take it easy and get some rest.
Cupping can be included as part of a standard acupuncture treatment.
